Key aims of this exciting new role will include:

Leading CPD to raise the quality of formative assessment and AFL school-wide.

Ensuring regular ‘high challenge, low stakes’ knowledge recall and rehearsal activities are taking place regularly in all subjects.

Ensuring assessment in all subjects supports interleaving; that students are routinely being required to recall and rehearse knowledge they have been taught last term and last year as well as last week.

Promoting the use of comparative judgement based approaches to assessment in all written subject areas.

Ensuring work scrutiny across the school consistently focuses on student learning rather than teacher marking.

Ensuring all department feedback policies support the ethos of being high impact and time-efficient, and that the requirements are being consistently followed by all teachers in each department team.

Be a key member of the school’s coaching team working closely with the school’s Teaching and Learning lead.

Be part of the school’s Leadership team.

Educational requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status
Evidence of appropriate professional development
Familiarity with current national initiatives and their impact on school development
Familiarity with developments in educational leadership
Awareness of research on teaching and learning, particularly around assessment.
Proven track record in raising achievement within his/her own teaching
Experience of raising achievement through intervention in teaching processes
Experience of leading and motivating a successful team
Experience of undertaking effective appraisal and development of staff
Highly skilled classroom practitioner, consistently teaching “good” or “outstanding” lessons
Good oral and written communication skills
Emotional intelligence
Strong interpersonal skills
Highly effective time management skills with effectively prioritised work habits
The ability to think analytically and strategically
The ability to lead, challenge and support others

Qualification requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status

L10-L12, 52,445 - 54,993 per annum - September 2020
